Auntie Carol Visits

Poor Avery Kate has been experiencing really bad gas, hiccups and tummy problems and has been having trouble going to sleep. Today, Carol came to the rescue and rocked her to sleep!

Wide Awake

Wide awake during the day means a goodnights sleep... Right?

Oakridge Visitors

What a nice afternoon Avery Kate and I had! Debby and Tucker brought us chick fil a and held the baby. I taught Tucker in 4th grade and tutored her for 4 years. Loved visiting with them!

At least someone likes tummy time...

First Bath

Well bath time was... interesting! Being a person who takes a bath daily, I assumed my little angel would love them too! Maybe we need a few more before we learn to love them. Zoey was very concerned about Avery and stood on the side of the bathtub watching her the entire time she took her bath. Protective big sister!

How sweet is this little rabbit and precious box that Auntie Kyle and Uncle Erik brought for Miss AK?!

Walking for Sanity

Avery and I (and occasionally the dogs) have taken a few, quick strolls around the neighborhood. Nice way to get out of the house and try to maintain some sanity. One afternoon, we walked the park with Mema (Avery's great-grandmother) while Avery slept.

Night Nurses

Mimi and DiDi to the rescue! For the first 5 nights, our moms took turns spending the night, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry and simply being a support system. The first few nights home with a newborn can be scary. "What does that cry mean?" "How come I can't calm her?" Thank goodness for the moms! Avery woke up, they changed the diaper, I fed, they rocked to sleep, I went to sleep, repeat. I couldn't have done it without them!

Daddy's Girl

Avery is less than 2 weeks old and this girl has her Daddy's heart! I have a special place in my heart for those Moms that take care of a newborn either all alone or without a supportive husband. David has been amazing so far! I cannot explain how much of a lifesaver he has been! At night, I do my best to feed her and get her back to sleep without him since he has work the next day, but let me tell you... There are times where an hour and a half has gone by of feeding and crying and Mommy simply needs a break! When I go to wake him up while holding a crying baby, he simply jumps out of bed, takes her and heads to the nursery. Daddys out there, take note! I love listening to him sing to her and console her. Cutest sight in the world is finding the two of them dead asleep in the glider at 3 am just cuddling away!

Meeting Ella Grace

Shelley, my cousin and one of my best friends, was due to welcome her little girl on June 3. Well, Miss Ella Grace just couldn't wait to meet her cousin so she came a little early on May 15 measuring the exact same length (18.5 inches) as Avery Kate and weighing 5 pounds 13 ounces, exactly one pound less than Avery. Shelley and I grew up on the family farm and were more like sisters than cousins. We fought like sisters, played like sisters and I can't remember a day that went by in the summers that we weren't together. Our Dad's always tell us how we would get into a fight, demand to go home saying, "Shelley is being mean to me!" Within 5 minutes we would be back to, "What do you think Shelley is doing? Can I walk back to her house?" Shelley and I can't wait to raise our little girls together! So far, Shelley, Stacy (Shelley's sister-in-law), and I have enjoyed group texting late at night with, "Anyone else up feeding?" at 2 am or, "I can't get her to stop crying! What do I do?" They are my saving grace when those late night crying fests happen and I feel all alone. I thank God gave us Ella early so we could all have each other as a support system.
